CLASSIC CASE · REFERENCE PROJECTS

Real environments.
Connected possibilities.

Explore two published private 5G project examples: an aircraft-manufacturing smart factory and the Nanjing Wireless Valley digital campus. See the requirements, the network design and the applications behind each one.

  • Manufacturing
  • Campus mobility
  • Application integration

The most useful case study explains how the network supports the work. These reference configurations connect the application layer with the core, radio access and terminals — making the design decisions easier to understand.

CASE 01 · SMART MANUFACTURING

Private 5G on the
aircraft factory floor.

A published aircraft-manufacturing example brings production-area coverage and open network interfaces together with industrial applications.

PRIMARY NEED

Production-area 5G coverage

INTEGRATION FOCUS

Open network interfaces

THE REQUIREMENT

Connect people, equipment and production information.

Large manufacturing facilities combine fixed workstations, mobile material handling and teams working across different production zones. The published example calls for 5G coverage across the plant and interfaces that allow applications to use the network.

This makes coverage planning an application exercise: identify the assembly areas, transport routes and service points, then map the devices and traffic each area needs to support.

APPLICATIONS IN THE REFERENCE

  • VoNR voice services
  • Factory monitoring and video
  • AGV material transport
  • Industrial connectivity and data exchange
  • AR-based remote assistance
  • Identity and access applications

The published configuration identifies private fixed radio equipment using N41 and N79. Bands and equipment selection are specific to each project.

Keep materials moving.

AGV connectivity needs coverage along the whole material-handling route. Validate handovers, interruption behaviour and application recovery using the actual vehicles.

Bring expertise to the task.

AR remote assistance links field staff with specialists. Device compatibility, video uplink and access to the collaboration platform need to be considered together.

Plan the local data path.

Local application hosting and a private core can support on-site traffic routing. Segmentation, authorised access and operational monitoring still need deliberate configuration.

WHAT TO TAKE INTO YOUR PROJECT

Test the complete workflow — from the moving terminal to the application response — before scaling across the factory.

CASE 02 · DIGITAL CAMPUS

One campus.
Many connected services.

The Nanjing Wireless Valley reference focuses on 5G coverage along an autonomous-driving test loop and integration with a 3D digital operations platform.

OPERATIONS

3D digital platform integration

THE REQUIREMENT

Make mobility part of the network plan.

This campus project combines route coverage with an operational view of the site. The named applications include autonomous driving, environmental data collection, intelligent inspection and campus monitoring.

A route-based design needs more than signal at isolated points. Evaluate the transitions between coverage areas, the direction of vehicle travel and the path from each device to its control or data platform.

CONNECTED CAMPUS APPLICATIONS

  • Autonomous vehicle testing
  • Environmental measurement and collection
  • Intelligent inspection workflows
  • Campus surveillance and monitoring
  • Operations and network-management integration

Conceptual view based on the published example. Vehicle control, inspection and data platforms require their own integration and acceptance testing.

Plan along the route.

Mark the test loop, intersections and obstructed areas. Check the full route in representative conditions and include boundaries between radio cells.

Connect operations data.

Decide what the digital platform needs from devices and network management. Define interfaces, access rights and the handling of alarms or missing data.

Validate service behaviour.

Test application responsiveness, uplink needs and reconnection after interruptions. Acceptance criteria should describe the service, not only radio signal strength.

TWO PROJECTS. DIFFERENT PRIORITIES.

The application changes the design.
